Sharda Kalla Singh, MD-PhD
Medical Director and Board Certified Hematopathologist
Dr. Sharda Kalla Singh is American Board Certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology. Dr. Kalla Singh completed her pathology residency and hematopathology fellowship at Saint Louis University, Missouri, where she performed and read bone marrow biopsies. Prior to attending residence training, Dr. Kalla Singh completed her PhD at Loma Linda University, California in human anatomy and developmental biology, focusing on the disparity in survival among African-American women affected by breast cancer.
Dr. Kalla Singh has successfully published numerous research papers. She attended yearly research meetings during her PhD training and later on as a research fellow at Loma Linda University.
Aamir Ehsan, MD
Board Certified Hematopathologist and Molecular Geneticist
Dr. Aamir Ehsan is American Board Certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, hematopathology, molecular genetics and transfusion medicine. He completed his pathology residency at Monmouth Medical Center at Hahnemann University in Long Branch, New Jersey. He then completed his subspecialty training as a transfusion medicine fellow at Ohio State University and as a hematopathology fellow at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His expertise in these subspecialties provides a uniquely integrated diagnostic approach to hematopoietic disease processes.
During the last 15 years, Dr. Ehsan has served as a faculty member at the UT Health Science Center and also as Adjunct Professor at the University of Arizona. Dr. Ehsan has excelled as a national expert in the field of hematopathology, demonstrating proficiency in bone marrow, lymph node and tissue-based hematolymphoid neoplasms. His tenure
as the director of the flow cytometry and molecular genetics laboratories at the university has contributed to his extensive experience in cutting-edge testing related to the rapidly changing field of pathology.
Dr. Ehsan is an outstanding communicator and educator in his field. He has earned multiple awards for excellence in teaching and has mentored many pathology residents and hematopathology and hematology/oncology fellows. He has contributed significantly to scientific work in peer-reviewed journal articles, authored textbook chapters and has been the invited speaker at national teleconferences.
Denise Francois, MD
Board Certified Hematopathologist
Dr. Denise Francois is American Board Certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology. Before attending medical school, Dr. Francois worked as a clinical laboratory scientist in cytogenetics. She completed her residency at Penrose Cancer Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she gained extensive experience in surgical pathology and bone marrow biopsy procedures. Dr. Francois completed her hematopathology fellowship at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California.
Dr. Francois is an experienced U.S. Air Force physician, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She was assigned to the Air Force Academy and Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, where her responsibilities included contributing to academic medical training as key faculty. At the academy, Dr. Francois trained internal medicine staff to perform bone marrow biopsy procedures. At Wilford Hall, Dr. Francois trained pathology residents and gave lectures on hematopathology.
Dr. Francois’ experience as a clinical laboratory scientist in cytogenetics, expertise in bone marrow biopsy procedures and extensive training in hematopoietic morphology and flow cytometry offers a well-rounded approach to diagnosing hematopoietic diseases.
Alma Sanchez-Salazar, MD
Board Certified Hematopathologist
Dr. Alma J. Sanchez-Salazar is American Board Certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology. Dr. Sanchez-Salazar completed her hematopathology fellowship and residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she performed and read bone marrow biopsies. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Sanchez-Salazar worked as a clinical laboratory scientist.
During her residency training, Dr. Sanchez-Salazar presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium and Canadian Academy of Pathologists Annual Meeting.
On completion of her residency, she was awarded the Rolf Sjuve Scott Award after being selected by her peers for excellence in knowledge, work ethic and teamwork.
Bridget Herschap, MD
Board Certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist
Dr. Bridget Herschap is American Board Certified in anatomic and clinical pathology.
Dr. Herschap completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
During her residency training, Dr. Herschap taught and mentored medical students and residents at the UT Health Science Center. Before completing her residency, she presented scientific literature at the Texas Society of Pathologists Annual Meeting. In addition, Dr. Herschap represented her residency program as a Delegate at the College of American Pathologist’s Residents Forum.
Dr. Herschap has special interest and is uniquely trained in all aspects of hematopathology and surgical pathology. She also has extensive experience in performing bone marrow procedures.
