About

This test is performed by collecting a small specimen of blood. The test helps identify disease-fighting antibodies in people who have been infected to COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2) but may have had mild symptoms or none at all, making it different from the current diagnostic tests that require nasal swabs to confirm active infection.

The test identifies the presence of antibodies that indicate that a person had an immune response. A positive result to this antibody (IgG) test indicates that you may have had previous exposure to COVID-19 and your body has developed antibodies.

This test is offered on Abbott platform which identifies the IgG antibody, a protein that the body produces in the late stages of infection and may remain for up to months and possibly years after a person has recovered.
