LabTest Diagnostics Employee Spotlight: Joseph Crifasi

Posted By rwpws
Here at LabTest Diagnostics, we love making sure that our clients are always satisfied and have all of their needs fulfilled. This wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic staff, who are always happy and ready to serve our clients with enthusiasm. Our very first Employee Spotlight showcases Joseph Crifasi, Director and Chief of Toxicology at LabTest Diagnostics! Joseph has been with LabTest Diagnostics since May 2013, and he handles an assortment of tasks at the office. “I manage all toxicology services here. This includes testing, method development, method validations, giving quality assessments, and consulting our wonderful clients if needed,” he said. Joseph enjoys what he does at LabTest Diagnostics. “I love the idea of working with the CEO to fulfill a vision to incorporate a full-service Toxicology Department,” he said. “This was an opportunity for me to be involved in the inception and growth of a state-of-the-art toxicology service. Here at LabTest Diagnostics, I always feel appreciated, and I like the challenges that each day can bring here.” A native of Springfield, Illinois, Joseph grew up diving head-first into life. “I am happy to have survived my childhood,” he said. “I was the kid who got stitches all the time from doing crazy things like climbing trees and jumping off the porch. I also got in trouble more than a few times for taking things apart – mostly my sister’s stuff – just to see how things worked, hoping to get it back together. That’s where I usually got into trouble!” Joseph has attended three different colleges – Western Illinois University from 1973 to 1975, University of Illinois at Springfield from 1975 to 1977 and from 1986 to 1988, and St. Louis University from 1992 to 1993. He was also the Supervisor of Clinical and Forensic Toxicology Services at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Senior Forensic Scientist for the Illinois State Police in Springfield, and the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory Supervisor at St. Louis University. Married to the love of his life, Joseph and his wife have two children – a daughter and a son – and one grandson. “We also have two cairn terriers, Vinny and Rocco,” he said. When Joseph isn’t busy overseeing the Toxicology Department here at LabTest Diagnostics, he’s busy collecting things. “I enjoyed racquetball and sailing when I was young. Now I just collect stuff!” he said. Interested in finding out more about LabTest Diagnostics? Call us at (314) 571-7833 or visit us online at!
